- Entered active service as a draftee on April 22, 1942 at East Saint Louis, Illinois. Selected for the detached enlisted men's list branch of the U.S. Army. Completed basic training and qualified in the military occupational specialty of combination welder (256). Departed the Continental U.S. on October 1, 1942 bound for the Pacific Theater of Operations. Served with unknown unit until return to the states on March 15, 1945. Assigned to Company A, 1630th Service Command Unit, Camp Grant, Illinois. Honorably discharged as a Technician Fifth Grade on September 30, 1945 at the Separation Center, same station. Earned The Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and The WWII Victory Medal.
