On Veterans' Day, 2005, the city of Flora, Illinois dedicated a memorial to all known Clay County, Illinois World War II Veterans.
Located on the south side of the city library, this is a copy of the brochure honoring that event.

Notes - Wallace "Dutch" Crown, 89, of Lawrenceville passed away on Friday October 26, 2012, at Lawrence Community Healthcare in Bridgeport, IL. He was born July 12, 1923 in Flora, IL. to John H. Crown and Mabel (Helm) Crown. He was married to Joan Gailey, and Delores Hayden, and both preceded him in death.
Dutch worked for B & O Railroad as a Train Dispatcher for 42 years. He served our country in the US Army during WW II. He was a member of the First Baptist church in Flora, IL. , and a member of the American Legion in Flat Rock, VFW, and the Moose Lodge.
Dutch was preceded in death by his parents, wives, three sisters, two brothers, and a grandson; Donald Salter.
He is survived by his loving daughter: Jane Ann Wirth from Lawrenceville, IL., step-daughters; Nancy Salesman from Plainfield, IN., and Janis Fry from Godfrey IL., four step-grandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL.
Burial in Lawrenceville City Cemetery with military rites by American Legion and VFW.
