Entered combat in vicinity of Moon-Sur-Elle, France on July 11, 1944 and fought through the rest of the Normandy Campaign and the Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Served as a squad leader (military occupational specialty 1607). Earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 1 silver battle star and the WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Corporal on November 5, 1945 at the Separation Center, Camp Grant, Illinois.

Located on the south side of the city library, this is a copy of the brochure honoring that event.

Notes - Roy E. Bricker, 94, of Flora passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Flora Gardens.
Roy was born November 7, 1921 in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Jerry and Mary (Pettyjohn) Bricker.
He married Erma Foreman on May 25, 1943 in St. Louis, MO. She preceded him in death on June 29, 1999.
Roy was a WWII Veteran, worked as a farm hand, and for over 30 years was a tank truck driver for Abners Trucking, Gasken Trucking and Booth Oil. Roy enjoyed gardening, going to auctions, hunting and fishing and visiting with the grandkids and family.
He is survived by his son, Roy D. Bricker and wife Janet of Flora, IL; son, Robert Dale Bricker and wife Regina of Xenia, IL; nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Judy Frank, three brothers and two sisters.
